HYALURONIC ACID

Hyaluronic acid is a di-saccharide polymer.  Also known as glycosaminoglycan, it is a molecule naturally produced by the body in the extracellular matrix for the renewal of epithelial tissue. With age, its production slows down, so the skin loses elasticity and hydration.

This molecule can contain 1,000 times its weight in water, providing immediate action with a "plumped" effect. Its hygroscopic properties enable it to combat insensible water loss (TEWL) and ensure intense, long-lasting hydration for the skin.

There are different types of hyaluronic acid, separated by the size of their molecules: a high molecular weight will enable moisture to be retained on the surface of the tissues and swell the skin, while a lower molecular weight will penetrate much deeper and accelerate cell regeneration.
