Principle
In aesthetic medicine, the innovative technology of LEDs (light emitting diodes) is able to treat a wide variety of skin problems like the signs of ageing, dark spots, acne and scarring. Unlike lasers and pulsed light, the goal is not to heat the skin with very high energy for a very brief time, but rather to emit lower levels of energy for a longer period of time.

LED lights emit monochromatic light that acts on the skin’s repair process: it “boosts” the activity of the fibroblasts, the skin cells responsible for collagen production, and inhibits the enzymes that are responsible for the degradation of collagen and hyaluronic acid. LED activity varies by colour of light, meaning its wavelength, which will penetrate the skin to different depths: blue = acne, yellow = scarring, red = ageing and green = dark spots.

Results
The results are visible after a few sessions, once collagen production has been jump-started.

Possible side effects
No side effects other than a sensation of heat after the session, and nothing more.

Number of sessions & budget

Several sessions are necessary, at €100 to €300 each
